Stoke-on-Trent, England (My Sportsbook) - Former Manchester United midfielder Danny Pugh has penned a one-year contract extension with Stoke City that will keep him at the Britannia Stadium until the summer of 2012. The 27-year-old accepts that he has a tough job breaking into the current Potters first team but is prepared to be patient and take his chance when it comes. He said: "The manager told me I still had a big part to play here and when you're not playing it's reassuring to hear that. "I'm confident I do have a part to play and can get back into the team on a regular basis, even though we have such a big squad. "I wouldn't say I had to think long and hard about signing a new contract, but obviously it's frustrating when you're not playing as much as you'd want. "Signing a new contract has given me a little boost to keep on working hard and to keep on aiming to get into the team." Pugh has made 57 first-team appearances for City since joining the club from Preston North End two years ago.
