San Diego, CA (My Sportsbook) - Chargers game-day staff member Walt Daniels has died after falling from the press level of Qualcomm Stadium hours before San Diego played Denver on Monday. The team said Daniels fell to the level below the press level at about 2:35 p.m. (pt), and was taken to Sharp Memorial Hospital in San Diego. The Los Angeles Times reported Daniels fell 25-30 feet out of the press box, and sustained traumatic head injures. The Chargers released a statement Tuesday, confirming Daniels' death: "The San Diego Chargers' family is greatly saddened by the loss of Walt Daniels. Walt loved the team and loved working in the press box on game days for more than 20 years. Our prayers are with his family and friends during this most difficult time." |
