Sao Paulo, Brazil (My Sportsbook) - Brawn GP capped off a sensational maiden season in Formula One with Jenson Button securing his first world championship with a fifth-place finish in Sunday's Brazilian Grand Prix. Brawn also captured the constructors' title. Button started in 14th but made several key overtaking moves throughout the 71-lap race. Rubens Barrichello, the pole sitter, fell back in the field after his first pit stop. Barrichello then suffered a punctured tire late in the event, which led to an eighth-place finish for the Brazilian. Mark Webber took the lead after the first round of stops, and then easily held off Robert Kubica and Lewis Hamilton, last year's world champion, to win the Brazilian GP. Webber claimed his second career F1 title. Kubica finished second, while Hamilton came in third. Sebastian Vettel's title hopes came to an end with a fourth-place run. Button holds a 15-point lead over Vettel and a 17-point advantage ahead of teammate Barrichello heading into the final race of the season on November 1 at Abu Dhabi. |
