Stuttgart, Germany (My Sportsbook) - Kevin Kuranyi's goal in the 76th minute helped Schalke claim a 2-1 win over Stuttgart at Mercedes Benz Arena on Saturday.
Ivan Rakitic found the net in the 24th minute for Schalke, but his opener was canceled out by Cacau in the 73rd, only for Kuranyi to score the winner three minutes later.
Schalke has now won four of its last five games and is just two points behind leaders Bayer Leverkusen and Hamburg.
Stuttgart has won only once in its last seven league games and is 13th in the Bundesliga standings.
The visitors struck midway through the opening half as Rafinha played a cross into the area from the right wing, and after Stuttgart's Stefano Celozzi failed to clear the ball, Rakitic pounced and beat goalkeeper Jens Lehmann.
Cacau was dangerous throughout the match and he shot just wide minutes after the opening goal before forcing a close-range save from goalkeeper Manuel Neuer, with Zdravko Kuzmanovic firing the rebound over the net.
The equalizer finally came in the 73rd minute when Julian Schieber crossed from the right wing for Cacau to finish off, but Schalke snatched the lead back for good only three minutes later.
Rafinha played Kuranyi into the box and he slotted his shot inside the far post, while Jefferson Farfan almost added to the lead in the final 10 minutes but was denied by a great save from Lehmann.
Bayer Leverkusen and Hamburg finished 0-0 at HSH Nordbank Arena, Werder Bremen moved into fourth place with a 2-0 win against Hoffenheim, Bayern Munich dealt Freiburg a 2-1 loss, Albert Bunjaku scored twice in a 3-0 Nurnberg win over last-placed Hertha Berlin, Koln downed Mainz 1-0 on a goal from Milivoje Novakovic and Alexander Meier helped Eintracht get past Hannover, 2-1 with a goal in the 74th minute.
