Shanghai, China (My Sportsbook) - Spaniard Rafael Nadal and Russian Nikolay Davydenko will battle in the final of the $5.25 million Shanghai ATP Masters after each won semifinal encounters Saturday. Nadal the top seed and the reigning Australian Open champion, was ahead 6-1, 3-0 on Feliciano Lopez when his fellow countryman retired from the match with a right ankle injury. Davydenko, seeded sixth, rallied to down second-seeded Serbian Novak Djokovic, 4-6, 6-4, 7-6 (7-1) in a three-hour marathon. Davydenko fended off three break points in the sixth game of the third set to square the match at 3-3. He later took command in the tiebreak by winning the first five points. This was the second straight match which ended early in Nadal's favor. On Friday, he was tied with former top-10 star Ivan Ljubicic 3-6, 6-3 when the big Croat retired from the bout after two sets due to a left hip problem. Nadal, a six-time major champion, is 4-2 lifetime against Davydenko. The Spaniard is going after his sixth title of the year and 37th of his career. Davydenko has three championships in 2009 and 17 for his career. This inaugural tournament closes out a three-week Asian swing on the ATP and the winner will take home $616,500. It serves as the penultimate Masters event, with the last one coming in Paris next month.
