City's Hughes cools Robinho rumors

Manchester, England (My Sportsbook) - Manchester City boss Mark Hughes has attempted to draw a line under the Robinho to Barcelona transfer rumors after insisting the Brazil star is staying at Eastlands.

Robinho, who is currently sidelined with an ankle injury which has restricted him to just three appearances this season, has recently been linked with a January move to the Spanish and European champions.

However, Hughes is adamant that the British transfer record signing will be staying at Eastlands.

"There is always speculation and noise surrounding Robinho. That has been the case since he came to the club," he said. "He is a great guy. We are not in the process of taking outstanding players out of the team.

"We want to complement the outstanding players at the club. We are looking to build, not dismantle."

Meanwhile, Hughes has revealed that he hopes to have the former Real Madrid striker back in contention for a first-team place before the end of October.

"The only frustration he has at the moment is that he is not fit and well," added Hughes.

"I hope that will be resolved in the next week to ten days and he will be back on the pitch."
