Manchester, England (My Sportsbook) - Manchester United will be without injured striker Wayne Rooney for Saturday's Premier League visit of Bolton Wanderers to Old Trafford. Rooney missed England's World Cup qualifier against Belarus on Wednesday with a calf strain picked up against Ukraine the previous weekend. He returned to Manchester for treatment but Sir Alex Ferguson has revealed that the in-form striker will not be risked against the Trotters. He is also a serious doubt for next week's Champions League trip to CSKA Moscow. "Rooney's out - that's the one certainty," said Ferguson. "We're doing our best to get him fit for Wednesday but I've got my doubts. "Hopefully he'll be fit for Liverpool (on Oct. 25). We won't be taking risks in Moscow." However, the news of Rooney's absence has been tempered by goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar's return to full-fitness. The veteran Dutchman has been sidelined during the first two months of the campaign after injuring his hand during United's pre-season fixtures. "Edwin's fit and he plays tomorrow," added Ferguson. "His game in the reserves was a confidence booster." (Courtesy of sportbox.tv)
