Detroit, MI (My Sportsbook) - Veteran quarterback Daunte Culpepper started in place of injured Detroit rookie Matthew Stafford Sunday in a 28-20 loss against the defending champion Pittsburgh Steelers. Culpepper went 23-for-37 with 282 yards, one touchdown and one interception. He added 44 yards on the ground on three carries and was sacked seven times. The first overall pick in this year's draft, Stafford was absent from the practice field on Wednesday and Thursday and took limited snaps Friday because of a right knee injury he sustained last week at Chicago. Stafford exited in the fourth quarter of Sunday's loss when his leg twisted upon being sacked by the Bears' Adewale Ogunleye. Stafford went 24-for-36 with 296 yards, one touchdown and one interception in the contest before he was replaced by Culpepper. In four games this season, Stafford has thrown for 894 yards, three touchdowns, and six interceptions.
