Tokyo, Japan (My Sportsbook) - Second-seeded Frenchman Jo-Wilfried Tsonga dominated Russian Mikhail Youzhny, 6-3, 6-3, to win the title at the Japan Open Sunday. Tsonga became the first player from France to capture the singles championship in Tokyo. He also became the third different French winner on the ATP Tour in as many weeks. Gael Monfils won in Metz on Sept. 27 and Gilles Simon captured the title in Bangkok last week. Tsonga, who captured the $300,000 first-place prize, is 3-0 in finals this season and 5-1 in his career. "I am so happy to win another title and this puts me closer to (qualifying for the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals in) London," Tsonga said. "I just played so well in the semi-finals and final here. I don't know what happened but I just felt so comfortable on court." Youzhny was appearing in his second ATP Tour final of the year and 10th in his career (4-6). "I am happy with the week here but it always hurts to lose, it doesn't matter if it's first round or the final," Youzhny said. This was just the second meeting between the pair. The other encounter was at the 2008 Australian Open -- and Tsonga posted a straight set victory.
