Toronto, ON (My Sportsbook) - The San Jose Earthquakes got a 93rd minute goal to earn a 1-1 draw at Toronto FC on Saturday afternoon, dealing the Reds' playoff chances a crushing blow. By forcing TFC (9-10-9) to share the points, the last-placed 'Quakes take on the role of spoilers. Now, TFC has just two remaining games to make up at least two points in the standings to catch New England, which is third in the Eastern table. San Jose (7-13-8) was eliminated from playoff contention after a mid-week loss to FC Dallas. After the teams battled to a scoreless first half, things looked bright for the home side after Nan Attakora scored his second goal of the season just two minutes after the break. Dwayne De Rosario played a ball into the San Jose penalty area, and when San Jose goalkeeper Joe Cannon hesitated to come out, it got past him to Attakora, who knocked it home at the back post. That's how the score looked like it would stay until the closing seconds when a defensive breakdown cost the Reds the win. A cross into the Toronto penalty area was skipped to the back post by Attakora, right to San Jose forward Cornell Glen. Glen made no mistake on the chance, volleying the ball past goalkeeper Brian Edwards for a share of the points. Toronto will be in must-win territory when they host Real Salt Lake next Saturday, while San Jose is at Chivas USA later the same night in their next MLS fixture.
