Chattanooga, TN (My Sportsbook) - Todd Demsey carded a five-under 67 Friday to move atop the leaderboard with the second round of the Chattanooga Classic suspended for the day due to lightning.

The first round had been suspended Thursday by darkness and was completed earlier Friday. The second round had a one-hour weather delay due to lightning in the area, but they returned to play before more lightning halted play for the day.

Demsey completed two rounds at 13-under-par 131.

Kyle Reifers fired a seven-under 65 to jump into a share of second at minus-10. He was joined there by Chris Baryla (68), Josh Teater (67) and David McKenzie (70), who shared the first-round lead with Demsey and Geoffrey Sisk.

Tyrone van Aswegen is alone in sixth at nine-under-par 135 after posting a 70 in the second round.

Demsey flew out of the gate with three straight birdies from the second to quickly jump to 11-under. After he made eagle on the par-five sixth, Demsey tripped to a bogey on No. 7 at the Black Creek Club.

The 37-year-old parred six consecutive holes around the turn. Demsey got back to 13-under with a birdie on the par-five 14th.

Demsey gave that stroke back with a bogey at the 17th, but he atoned for that mistake with a birdie at the last to lead by three.

"I didn't play quite as well as yesterday, but I hung in there," Demsey admitted. "I feel pretty good about most parts of my game right now. I made a few bad swings today, but wasn't far off and am pretty happy with how everything turned out."

Demsey needs a big week as he stands 88th on the money list. There is one more event before the Tour Championship, which takes the top 60 players on the money list and after that event is complete the top 25 on the money list earn their PGA Tour cards for next season.

Sisk managed an even-par 72 and was joined in seventh place at eight-under-par 136 by Esteban Toledo (69), Jason Schultz (68), Wil Collins (69), Hunter Haas (67) and Troy Kelly (67).

Chris Anderson (16 holes), Dustin Bray (13 holes) and Luke List (12 holes) are tied for 13th at minus-seven. They were the highest players on the leaderboard when play was halted for the day. They are tied for 13th place with Guy Boros (71), Jeff Brehaut (68), David Peoples (68) and Roberto Castro (71).
