Bronx, NY (My Sportsbook) - New York Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez may not require a follow-up surgery to the procedure he had performed on his hip in spring training. Dr. Marc J. Philippon, who performed the surgery on the slugger in Colorado on March 9, said that more tests will be needed but he doesn't think another operation will be necessary. Philippon examined Rodriguez during batting practice prior to Friday's ALDS Game 2 and said that he thought the third baseman looked about 95 percent. Furthermore, the doctor expects Rodriguez to be fully recovered by spring training 2010. Despite returning from the disabled list on May 8, Rodriguez still managed to record 30 homers and 100 RBI for the 12th consecutive season. Upon his return, the Yanks were an MLB-best 90-44 and finished with the best record in baseball. For his career, Rodriguez is a .305 hitter with 583 homers and 1,706 RBI over the course of 16 seasons with Seattle, Texas and the Yankees.
