Chicago, IL (My Sportsbook) - Chicago White Sox outfielder Dewayne Wise refused his outright assignment to Triple-A Charlotte on Friday and has thus become a free agent. Wise, 31, hit .225 with a pair of homers and 11 RBI while serving primarily as a defensive replacement for Chicago this past season, his second with club. The seven-year veteran had arguably the most memorable catch of the season back on July 23, when he saved Mark Buehrle's prefect game by making a juggling grab while falling to the ground after crashing into the center field wall on a ball hit by Kansas City's Gabe Kapler in the ninth inning. In 324 career games, Wise has logged a .216 average with 17 homers, 61 RBI and 25 steals during stints with Toronto, Atlanta, Cincinnati and Chicago. |
