Nashville, TN (My Sportsbook) - Bobby Hamilton captured Saturday night's Toyota Tundra 200 at the Nashville Superspeedway. The No.4 Square D Dodge crossed the finish line 0.795 seconds ahead of runner-up David Starr.
The victory was Hamilton's fourth of the season and eighth of his truck career.
Hamilton was able to drive into victory lane because of a late pass of Starr with eight laps to go.
After the race a very emotional Hamilton said, "I can't talk right now, this is very big."
The first part of the race was in the hands of Bobby Hamilton Jr. Hamilton Jr. led with Hamilton, Ted Musgrave, and Matt Crafton battling behind him.
The leaders went into the pits for their last stops with less than 70 laps to go.
After the pit stops the top-five read: Hamilton, Crafton, Musgrave, Hamilton Jr., and Starr.
Crafton became slow and dropped out of the top-five.
For the next 50 laps it was a battle between Starr, Hamilton Jr., and Musgrave for first.
With 12 laps to go a caution flag came out for a Dennis Setzer spin out. Setzer was in second in the point standings going into the race.
The green flag came back out with only eight laps to go. Hamilton quickly passed to the outside of Starr to take the lead.
Hamilton never looked backed from that point on and was able to drive into Victory Lane.
Starr, Musgrave, Hamilton Jr., and Steve Park completed the top-five.
Hamilton now leads the point standings by 84 with 2288 points. Setzer (2204). Chad Chaffin (2092). Carl Edwards (2084) and Matt Crafton(2075) complete the top-five.
The next race in the Craftsman Truck Series is set for Wednesday, August 25th at the Bristol Motor Speedway.
