Santa Clara, CA (My Sportsbook) - The San Francisco 49ers and holdout wide receiver Michael Crabtree agreed to a six-year contract on Wednesday. Crabtree was the last first-round draft pick from this year to sign and had until November 17 to do so before his 2009 season would have been lost. While the deal is for six years, the final year could be voided if Crabtree meets performance goals in two of the first four years. The 10th overall draft pick from this year was initially offered a $20 million contract, with $16 million guaranteed, and signed a contract similar to that without the salary he would have received for the first four regular season game. A two-time All-American at Texas Tech, Crabtree posted 231 catches for 3,127 yards and 41 touchdowns during his two-year collegiate career, setting school and Big 12 receiving records in just 26 career games. Despite a 3-1 record this season and a first-place showing in the NFC West, the 49ers have the second-to-worst rated passing offense in the conference, averaging 230 yards over the first four games. |
