Beijing, China (My Sportsbook) - Second-seeded Serbian star Novak Djokovic and hot Russian Nikolay Davydenko were among Wednesday's second-round winners at the $3.337 million China Open. Djokovic drubbed last week's Bangkok runner-up and fellow Serb Viktor Troicki 6-3, 6-0, while a fourth-seeded Davydenko dismantled German Philipp Kohlschreiber 6-1, 6-0 on the hardcourts at the Olympic Green Tennis Center. Davydenko is fresh off his hardcourt title in Malaysia. Up next for the former Aussie Open champion Djokovic will be last week's Kuala Lumpur runner-up to Davydenko, Fernando Verdasco, while Davydenko will face tall Croat Marin Cilic in Friday's quarterfinals. A fifth-seeded Verdasco got past former world No. 1 and fellow Spaniard Juan Carlos Ferrero 7-5, 6-4 and an eighth-seeded Cilic held off France's Julien Benneteau 6-2, 2-6, 6-0 on Day 3. The second round will conclude here on Thursday, including matches for top- seeded Rafael Nadal, French Open runner-up Robin Soderling and seventh-seeded Fernando Gonzalez. The former world No. 1 and reigning Aussie Open champion Nadal will meet American James Blake, while a sixth-seeded Soderling will take on Spaniard Tommy Robredo and the 2007 Beijing champion "Gonzo" will battle wild card, former world No. 1, and 2004 Beijing winner Marat Safin. Nadal is 6-0 lifetime at this event and captured it back in 2005. This week's champion will pocket $500,000.
