Sevilla, Spain (My Sportsbook) - Renato scored in the 66th minute and Sevilla handed Real Madrid, which was without Cristiano Ronaldo, its first loss of the La Liga season Sunday, 2-1 at the Estadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan.
Jesus Navas scored the opener for Sevilla in the 33rd, and Renato answered the tying goal by Madrid's Pepe to help his side move into third, level on points with Real. Barca sits alone atop La Liga, three in front of Sevilla and Real.
Ronaldo, signed in the offseason for $132 million from Manchester United, sat out with an injured ankle. Ronaldo had nine goals in his first seven matches, including two Champions League games, to spark Real to its unbeaten start.
The reigning FIFA World Player of the Year wasn't around to save Real again.
Navas handed Sevilla the lead midway through the first half, latching onto an assist from Fernando Navarro in the middle of the box to pick out the bottom- right corner.
Pepe brought Real level in the 48th off a free kick, running onto a cross from Guti to head high into the middle of the net.
Renato, who joined Navas with two goals this season, netted the match-winner just under 20 minutes later, finishing off a cross from Adriano with a header to the bottom left.
Sevilla won for the fifth time in six league matches, and trails Real in goal differential.
Also Sunday, Villarreal continued to struggle, settling for a 0-0 draw against Espanyol despite playing the final 75 minutes with a man advantage. Villarreal is winless through six matches, losing three and tying three.
Villarreal and promoted Xerez, which scored its first goal of the season in a 1-1 tie against Malaga on Sunday, are the only remaining winless clubs left in La Liga. Emiliano Armenteros scored for Xerez, but Victor Obinna equalized in the 90th for Malaga.
Pedro Leon scored the match-winner in the 76th as Getafe defeated Osasuna 2-1, Miguel de las Cuevas scored twice in Sporting Gijon's 4-1 win over Mallorca, Muniain scored in the 77th as 10-man Athletic Bilbao tied nine-man Valladolid 2-2, and Nikola Zigic scored to lead Valencia to a 1-0 win over Racing.
