Santa Clara, CA (My Sportsbook) - The San Jose Earthquakes won their second straight Major League Soccer fixture, 1-0, over the New York Red Bulls at Buck Shaw Stadium on Saturday night. A Ryan Johnson penalty-kick goal in the first half proved to be the difference in the tight game. The win also extends San Jose's unbeaten run to four games, keeping its slim playoff hopes on life support. The 'Quakes (7-12-7) are still in last place in the Western table, however. The loss drops the Red Bulls to a league-worst 4-18-6, stretching their current winless streak to four games. San Jose earned the game's lone goal when Arturo Alvarez was taken down by Jeremy Hall in the New York penalty area. Johnson stepped up to take the chance and slotted home his 10th goal of the season. San Jose will aim to continue its streak when it hosts FC Dallas on Wednesday, while the Red Bulls play at Real Salt Lake on Oct. 14 in their next MLS fixture.
