Davie, FL (My Sportsbook) - In need of a quarterback after the injury to Chad Pennington, the Miami Dolphins acquired Tyler Thigpen from the Kansas City Chiefs on Tuesday in exchange for an undisclosed draft pick. Pennington suffered a shoulder injury during this past Sunday's game against San Diego and could be sidelined for the remainder of the season. Thigpen, in his third season out of Coastal Carolina, played 14 games and made 11 starts for the Chiefs last year. He was relegated to fighting for a backup spot in training camp this summer when Kansas City acquired Matt Cassel from the New England Patriots. However, Brodie Croyle won that job and started the season-opener for the Chiefs while Cassel recovered from a knee injury suffered in the preseason. Last year Thigpen completed 54.8 percent of his passes for 2,608 yards with 18 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. He has not thrown a pass this season. Thigpen will likely be the third quarterback with the Dolphins behind Chad Henne and Pat White. Henne will likely take over the starting role for Pennington, as reports on Monday indicated that the veteran had a torn capsule in his right shoulder and was seeking a second opinion on the injury.
