Rodgers, Packers keep Rams winless

St. Louis, MO (My Sportsbook) - Aaron Rodgers passed for 269 yards with two touchdowns and ran for another score, as the Green Bay Packers crushed the St. Louis Rams, 36-17, at Edward Jones Dome.

Rodgers finished 13-of-23 passing and also rushed eight times for 38 yards, while Ryan Grant added 99 yards on the ground on 26 handles for Green Bay (2-1), which rebounded from a 31-24 loss to Cincinnati last Sunday.

John Kuhn had a 10-yard touchdown grab and rushed for a score, while Greg Jennings pulled in two passes for 103 yards in the win. Donald Driver also had a big game receiving for the Packers, catching four balls for 95 yards and a score. Mason Crosby connected on three field goals for Green Bay.

"We got off to a great start defensively with the turnovers," said Packers head coach Mike McCarthy. "There was some up and down parts to the game, but I really like how the team responded. The team kept fighting, and I thought it was a good victory for us to complete a good week of work."

Steven Jackson had 27 carries for 117 yards and Daniel Fells had a pair of TD catches for the Rams (0-3), who have started 0-3 for the third straight season and have dropped 13 in a row with their last win coming on October 19, 2008 versus Dallas.

Marc Bulger finished 3-of-4 passing for 23 yards and a fumble before leaving late in the first quarter with a bruised right shoulder. Kyle Boller took over and threw for 164 yards on 16-of-31 attempts, including two touchdown passes.

"I'm disappointed in the results. I'm not disappointed in the effort," said Rams head coach Steve Spagnuolo. "Now, you don't want to spot people 16 points or whatever it was, but our defense did rise up when we turned it over and held them to field goals. But the offense kept coming back. It's the big plays on defense that kill you and the turnovers -- we didn't get any takeaways, so that's basically what it comes down to."

After Josh Brown had a 48-yard field goal blocked on the Rams' opening drive of the game, Green Bay put three on the board on its first offensive foray when Crosby connected on a 48-yarder.

Johnny Jolly's fumble recovery led to a Crosby 38-yard effort later in the opening quarter for a Packers 6-0 advantage. The field goal fest continued when Crosby was true from 25-yards on the final play of the first quarter after the Green Bay offense sputtered following a Jackson fumble.

The Pack then extended their lead to 16-0 in the early stages of the second when Kuhn banged in from a yard out to cap a six-play, 80-yard drive that took 2:59 off the clock. The drive was highlighted by a one-handed 46-yard grab by Driver.

Boller hit Fells with a 16-yard TD pass on the Rams' next drive to make it a 16-7 game. The Packers quickly responded on their next drive when Driver pulled in a 21-yard scoring toss from Rodgers with just under two minutes left in the half.

Another Boller-to-Fells hookup of 19 yards in the closing seconds of the half made it 23-14 heading into the break.

St. Louis narrowed its deficit midway through the third on Brown's 53-yard field goal.

Rodgers then capped a well-orchestrated seven-play, 84-yard drive early in the fourth when he ran up the middle for a four-yard TD. Crosby missed the extra point, but the Pack increased their advantage to 29-17.

Kuhn's second TD of the game, a 10-yard catch off a Rodgers dump pass with 4:43 left in the fourth quarter, closed out the scoring.

Game Notes

Green Bay will visit Brett Favre's Vikings on October 5, while St. Louis visits San Francisco next Sunday...The Rams retired Hall of Fame defensive end Deacon Jones' No. 75 prior to the game...Driver now has a reception in 114 straight games, which is a Green Bay record...Rams safety James Butler and wide receiver Laurent Robinson left in the first half with knee injuries...Despite the loss, the Rams still lead the all-time series with a 45-42-2 mark.
