Amsterdam, Netherlands (My Sportsbook) - Ajax extended its winning streak in Eredivisie play to four games with a 3-0 win over Den Haag at Amsterdam Arena on Sunday.
Demy De Zeeuw opened the scoring 26 minutes into the match, while goals from Marko Pantelic and Siem De Jong in the final 20 minutes put the result away, moving Ajax to within one point of the top spot, which is shared by PSV Eindhoven and Twente.
Ajax has now won its last four games by a combined score of 16-0, while Den Haag has lost its last two matches following a three-game winning streak.
The visitors had the ball in the back of the net first, but Bogdan Milic was ruled offside and the goal was taken off the scoreboard.
Ajax then went in front minutes later as a cross from Luis Suarez was blocked, but it fell into the path of De Zeeuw, who fired past goalkeeper Barry Ditewig.
Den Haag did not go away, however, and goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg needed a good stop on Lorenzo Pique to keep Ajax in front, while Charlton Vicento headed over from close range for the visitors.
The home side got a bit of breathing room with 20 minutes left when Suarez beat Ditewig and squared the ball for Pantelic to finish into the empty net, while De Jong capped off the win in the 90th minute when he scored on a Dennis Rommedahl corner kick.
Feyenoord is in fourth place, three points behind the leaders, after beating NAC, 2-0 on goals from Andwele Slory and Leroy Fer in the second half, Danny Holla's first-half strike was enough for Groningen to beat Vitesse, 1-0, Heerenveen picked up its second win of the campaign as they toppled Sparta, 2-0 and Heracles doubled up on NEC, 2-0, as Everton and Bas Dost scored first- half goals.
