Edmonton, AB (My Sportsbook) - Steven Jyles' touchdown run in the fourth quarter proved to be the difference as the Saskatchewan Roughriders downed the Edmonton Eskimos, 23-20.
Darian Durant went 23-for-33 with 269 yards and three picks while Wes Cates carried the ball 17 times for 103 yards for the Roughriders (7-5), who have won three of their last four. Andy Fauntz had seven catches for 71 yards.
Ricky Ray went 15-for-29 with 244 yards while Arkee Whitlock had 10 carries for 85 yards and a score for the Eskimos (6-6), who have dropped three of four. Jamaica Rector had six catches for 76 yards.
Trailing heading into the fourth quarter, Edmonton took the lead on the second play of the frame as Whitlock took a handoff 55 yards into the end zone for a 20-15 advantage.
However, Saskatchewan answered with a score of its own as Jyles' one-yard touchdown run coupled with a two-point conversion on a Durant pass to Fantuz gave the team a 23-20 lead with 9:33 to play.
From there the Roughriders defense held the Eskimos at bay to escape with the win.
The Eskimos got the first score of the game. T.J. Hill picked off a Durant pass and took it into the end zone from 59 yards out with a bit over seven minutes to play in the first.
Luca Congi got the Roughriders on the board about three minutes later with a 26-yard field goal and Noel Prefontaine conceded a safety to make it a 7-5 game heading into the second.
Prefontaine's 22-yard field goal less than two minutes into the second gave Edmonton a five-point lead, but it was Saskatchewan that took the lead into the locker room as Renauld Williams recovered a fumble in the end zone to make it a 12-10 game heading into the break.
Edmonton got a 42-yard field goal from Prefontaine less than two minutes into the third, but Congi countered later in the frame with a 36-yard field goal for a 15-13 lead.
