Midland, TX (My Sportsbook) - Garrett Willis carded a five-under 67 Saturday to move two strokes clear of the field after 54 holes of the WNB Classic.
Willis finished three rounds at 16-under-par 200. He collected his lone Nationwide Tour win at the 2005 Utah Classic.
J.J. Killeen fired a six-under 66 to move into a share of second place at minus-14 with Brenden Steele (68), Jason Schultz (70), Keoke Cotner (65) and Jerod Turner (69) one shot back at 13-under-par 203.
Second-round leader and last week's winner Fran Quinn stumbled to a two-over 74. That dropped him into a tie for 10th at minus-11.
Willis collected just one birdie over the first six holes at Midland Country Club on Saturday. He chipped in for birdie on seven and made it two straight with a short birdie effort on eight to move to 14-under.
After three straight pars around the turn, Willis birdied the par-five 12th. He came right back with a birdie on 13 to get to 16-under. He parred the last five holes to close out a bogey-free round.
"I wanted to come out here and make no bogeys," said Willis. "I knew the guys coming out here early were going to go pretty low and I felt if I could make some birdies I could hang out around the lead."
Killeen carded six birdies, two bogeys and an eagle in his round of 66.
"The weather is so good right now and this is a tough course, but it's playing as easy as it can," Killeen stated. "The greens are soft and smooth. You had to shoot under par today if you wanted to get into contention."
Steele had three bogeys to go along with seven birdies in the third round.
Ryan Armour (65), Paul Stankowski (70) and Monday-qualifier Rhein Gibson (70) are tied for seventh place at 12-under-par 204.
Quinn was joined at minus-11 by Brad Fritsch (67), David Morland IV (70), Darron Stiles (70), Guy Boros (70), Jin Park (67), Oskar Bergman (70), Tommy Gainey (65) and Matthew Borchert (69).
