Hamburg, Germany (My Sportsbook) - A goal from Mladen Petric in the 72nd minute was enough to help Hamburg to a 1-0 win over Bayern Munich at HSH Nordbank Arena on Saturday.
Both goalkeepers produced fine saves in the first half, but it was Petric who finally broke the deadlock with just under 20 minutes left when he finished off a good cross from former Bayern Munich midfielder Ze Roberto.
The win allows Hamburg to stay on top of the Bundesliga table on goal difference ahead of Bayer Leverkusen, which also recorded a 1-0 win on Saturday.
Bayern created a great chance 11 minutes into the match when Franck Ribery laid a ball off to Arjen Robben inside the box on the left. Robben then rolled his shot past goalkeeper Frank Rost, but it also just skipped past the far post.
Petric then headed over from eight yards before Bayern goalkeeper Jorg Butt came up with a great diving save on Jerome Boateng, who curled a shot towards the upper right corner that was tipped over the crossbar.
The game was still scoreless as the second half began, but Rost needed to react quickly to keep out a shot from Ivica Olic, while Hamburg took control of the game over the final 30 minutes.
The hosts had Bayern pinned back for long spells before they finally cashed in, with Ze Roberto getting to the end line on the left and pulling the ball back through the face of goal to Petric, who was left open at the back post for an easy finish.
A late surge in the final 10 minutes saw Bayern find the net, but the goal was called back for offsides, while Philipp Lahm had one last chance to level the match with three minutes to play, but he missed badly from 10 yards.
Schalke got past Borussia Dortmund, 1-0 as Jefferson Farfan scored in the first half, Simon Rolfes provided Bayer Leverkusen with its lone goal in a 1-0 victory over Koln, Two goals from Claudio Pizarro propelled Werder Bremen to a 3-0 triumph against Mainz, Stuttgart cruised past Eintracht, 3-0, and Wolfsburg handled Hannover, 4-2.
