Madrid, Spain (My Sportsbook) - Rafael van der Vaart has been warned that his international place is in jeopardy if he continues to warm the bench at Real Madrid. The Netherlands winger opted to stay at the Bernabeu and fight for his first- team place in the summer despite several other fringe members of the squad moving on when Real spent heavily on new players. Compatriots Arjen Robben and Wesley Sneijder both departed and have started the season strongly for new clubs Bayern Munich and Inter Milan, respectively. Van der Vaart has yet to make a first-team appearance this season and Netherlands coach Bert van Marwijk is concerned. "Rafael has a significant position in the Oranje, but if things continue like they are at Real Madrid, it becomes a problem for him to be selected," he warned. (Courtesy of sportbox.tv)
