Seoul, Korea (My Sportsbook) - Top-seeded Daniela Hantuchova of Slovakia and defending champion Maria Kirilenko of Russia were among the second-round winners Thursday at the Korea Open. Hantuchova cruised to a 6-1, 6-1 victory over South Africa's Chanelle Scheepers, while Kirilenko advanced when third-seeded Francesca Schiavone retired in the second set with a hamstring strain. Kirilenko was ahead 6-1, 1-2 when the Italian called it quits. Also advancing were seventh-seeded Russian Vera Dushevina and Japan's Kimiko Date Krumm. Dushevina posted a 7-5, 6-1 triumph against Latvia's Anastasija Sevastova and will face Kirilenko in Friday's quarterfinals. Kirilenko won last year's title in Seoul and was also a finalist at this event in 2007. She has reached one WTA final this year, losing to Roberta Vinci in Barcelona in April. Krumm rallied for a 4-6, 7-6 (7-4), 6-3 victory over fifth-seeded Russian Alisa Kleybanova. Next up for the 38-year-old veteran will be Hantuchova, who is bidding for her first title since 2007. Friday's other quarterfinals will pit second-seeded Spaniard Anabel Medina Garrigues against Slovakia's Magdalena Rybarikova and Germany's Anna-Lena Groenefeld against Chinese Taipei's Yung-Jan Chan.
