New York, NY (My Sportsbook) -
Houston Texans quarterback Matt Schaub,
Cincinnati Bengals defensive end Antwan Odom and
Buffalo Bills kicker Rian Lindell have been selected as the AFC's top players for Week 2 of the NFL season.
Schaub captured the offensive honor after leading the Texans to a 34-31 shootout over the Tennessee Titans. In the fourth quarter, he led a nine-play, 63-yard drive that was capped by a 23-yard field goal from Kris Brown to give Houston the lead with under three minutes to play.
Overall, Schaub went 25-of-39 for 357 yards and a career-high four touchdowns. It was the sixth 300-yard passing game of his career.
His favorite target in the game was Andre Johnson, who finished with 10 catches for 149 yards and two scores. The 10th catch was Johnson's 500th of his career and his touchdown catches went for 19 and 72 yards.
In his sixth year out of Virginia, it is Schaub's second career weekly award.
Odom nabbed defensive honors as he helped his team record a 31-24 win over the Packers in Green Bay. He totaled six tackles and a career-high five sacks in the win.
His sack total was the most by any player in the NFL since the New York Giants' Osi Umenyiora notched seven sacks against the Philadelphia Eagles on September 30, 2007. Also, he is the first player in the history of the NFL to total seven sacks in the first two games of the season.
In his sixth year out of Alabama, Odom got the first weekly award of his career.
Lindell connected on all four of his field goal attempts to win the special teams award as he helped the Bills to a 33-20 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Hitting field goals of 31, 43, 27 and 20 yards, it was the ninth time in his career that he had four or more field goals in a game. He added three extra points in the game and his 21 points leads the AFC and is tied for second in the NFL.
In his tenth season out of Washington State, it was the second weekly award of his career.
