Seoul, Korea (My Sportsbook) - Second-seeded Spaniard Anabel Medina Garrigues was a second-round winner on Wednesday at the Korea Open. Medina Garrigues had an easy time advancing past American Meghann Shaughnessy 6-3, 6-1 at the Olympic Tennis Courts. However, a pair of seeded players were upset in second-round play. Yung-Jan Chan of Chinese Taipei took down sixth-seeded Russian Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova 2-6, 6-4, 6-1 while Slovakian Magdalena Rybarikova advanced past eighth-seeded Austrian Sybille Bammer 6-1, 7-5. Lastly, in a match of unseeded players, Germany's Anna-Lena Groenefeld defeated Kai-Chen Chang of Chinese Taipei 6-7 (5-7), 6-4, 6-3. There was also first-round action here on Wednesday as top-seeded Daniel Hantuchova survived a scare but moved on in a defeat of Japan's Ayumi Morita 6-7 (5-7), 6-4, 6-3 and Japan's Kimiko Date Krumm knocked out South Korea's Ye-Ra Lee 6-3, 6-4.
