Owings Mills, MD (My Sportsbook) - The Baltimore Ravens have traded linebacker Prescott Burgess to the New England Patriots and signed tight end Tony Curtis.

Baltimore received a conditional seventh-round draft pick in exchange for Burgess and inked Curtis to fill the spot on its 53-man roster.

Besieged by injuries since becoming Baltimore's sixth-round pick in 2007, Burgess spent all of 2008 and a good part of his rookie season on injured reserve. The 25-year-old was active for the Ravens first two games of 2009 but did not record a tackle.

Curtis was released by Philadelphia at the conclusion of the preseason. He played in all 16 regular-season games in 2008 while a member of the Cowboys and made eight catches for 32 yards. The fifth-year pro was then released in the offseason and signed with the Kansas City Chiefs, who subsequently let Smith go in early August.

Over 36 career games with Dallas, Curtis has 11 receptions for 50 yards and three touchdowns. All three scores came on his only three grabs of the 2007 season.

New England released center Ryan Wendell to make room on the roster for Burgess.
