Indianapolis, IN (My Sportsbook) - Reliant Stadium in Houston will host the men's Final Four in 2011, the NCAA announced Monday.
The 2012 Final Four will be played at the Superdome in New Orleans and the 2013 event is slated for the Georgia Dome in Atlanta.
"Having recently completed the Final Four site selection process, the committee knew this would be a challenge," said Dan Guerrero, director of athletics at UCLA and current basketball committee chair. "We received some 70 bids and each city could, justifiably, provide a quality championship experience for the student-athletes. Interest remains incredibly high in hosting the championship."
The NCAA also announced other host cities for other rounds in 2011, 2012 and 2013. The first and second rounds in 2011 will be in Denver, Tampa, Tucson, Washington, Charlotte, Chicago, Cleveland and Tulsa. The regional semifinals and finals are set for Anaheim, New Orleans, Newark (NJ) and San Antonio.
In 2012 first and second-round sites will be Albuquerque, Louisville, Pittsburgh, Columbus, Portland, Greensboro, Nashville and Omaha. Boston, Phoenix, Atlanta and St. Louis will host the regional semifinals and finals.
The year 2013 will be the 75th anniversary of the championship. Host sites for the first two rounds are, Auburn Hills, Lexington, Salt Lake City, San Jose, Austin, Dayton, Kansas City and Philadelphia. The new Dallas Cowboys Stadium will host the South Regional semifinals and finals, while the Staples Center will do the same for the West and Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis for the Midwest. The site of the East Regional semifinals and finals are still undecided.
