Madrid, Spain (My Sportsbook) - Real Madrid striker Ruud van Nistelrooy is set to miss the next six weeks after suffering a thigh injury in Sunday's 5-0 pounding of Xerez. The 33-year-old Dutchman was making his first appearance for the club since October because of a knee injury, and he came off the bench to score the final goal in the 89th minute, but sustained another injury in the process. An MRI scan has shown that there is damage to the left thigh muscle of Van Nistelrooy, who is already expected to see a major reduction in playing time with the additions of Karim Benzema, Cristiano Ronaldo and Kaka among others over the summer. Van Nistelrooy scored 20 goals in all competitions during the 2007-08 campaign before he was limited to seven goals in only 10 appearances last season because of injury.
