Guangzhou, China (My Sportsbook) - Shahar Peer of Israel took home the title at the Guangzhou Women's Open, besting Italy's Alberta Brianti 6-3, 6-4 in Sunday's final. The fifth-seeded Peer, who ousted last year's runner-up Peng Shuai in the semifinals, picked up her fourth career WTA Tour crown and first since capturing three titles in 2006. No. 8 seed Brianti was playing in her first WTA final. She was able to erase a break in the second set, but was broken on her very next serve to go down 5-3, eventually losing two games later. Brianti's best previous finish was a semifinal loss to Dinara Safina in Slovenia earlier this year. Peer was awarded a first prize of $37,000.
