Barcelona, Spain (My Sportsbook) - Lionel Messi celebrated his new contract with Barcelona on Saturday with two goals in a 5-2 win over Atletico Madrid at the Camp Nou.
Messi signed a contract extension through 2016 on Friday - a deal including a $368 million buyout clause - and rewarded Barcelona with his second and third goals of the young season.
The Argentine ace scored his first goal during Barca's four-goal first half, and added the clinching goal in the 90th minute.
Barcelona won for the third time in as many games to open the La Liga season, and sits alone atop the league with fellow unbeatens Real Madrid, Valencia and Athletic Bilbao all playing Sunday.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic started Barca's first-half outburst in the second minute, and Messi followed with his opener in the 16th. Daniel Alves and Seydou Keita added goals by the 41st minute, and only Sergio Aguero's 45th-minute goal kept Atletico in the match entering the break.
Diego Forlan cut Barcelona's lead in half in the 84th, but Messi clinched the victory in the closing seconds.
Mallorca, which got first-half goals from Mario Suarez and Aritz Aduriz, moved into second as it continued its unbeaten start - two wins and a draw - with a 4-0 win over Tenerife.
Also Saturday, Sevilla used goals from Negredo and Frederic Kanoute to defeat Osasuna 2-0, Nasief Morris scored in the 80th to lead Racing over Malaga 2-1, and Verdu notched the game-winner to lead Espanyol over Deportivo 3-2.
On Sunday, Athletic Bilbao hosts Villarreal, Real Zaragoza hosts Valladolid, Almeria hosts Getafe, Real Madrid hosts Xerez and Valencia hosts Sporting Gijon.
