Quebec City, QC (My Sportsbook) - Lucie Safarova of the Czech Republic has advanced to the final at the Bell Challenge with a straight-set victory over Germany's Julia Goerges in the first of Saturday's semifinals. The fourth-seeded Safarova cruised to a 6-3, 6-2 victory to reach her first final of 2009. She had been a quarterfinal loser four times previously this year, including a setback to Serena Williams at the Rogers Cup last month. Safarova has yet to drop a set this week and will meet the winner of the day's second semifinal between Hungary's Melinda Czink and Canadian crowd favorite Aleksandra Wozniak. The 22-year-old Safarova is 4-2 all-time in WTA Tour finals. She last won a title in 2008 at Forest Hills. Goerges, meanwhile, fell to 0-3 lifetime in WTA semifinals. The 2009 Quebec City titlist will collect $37,000.
