Dundee, Scotland (My Sportsbook) - A penalty kick from Ross Forbes in the 66th minute helped Motherwell to a 1-0 win over Dundee United at Tannadice Park on Saturday, preserving the teams unbeaten record in the Scottish Premier League. Motherwell's Jim O'Brien drew a foul inside the area on United's Sean Dillon and Forbes held his nerve from the spot with 24 minutes to play, but it was the heroics of 'Well goalkeeper John Ruddy that preserved the win as he produced three successive saves on Darren Dods, Danny Cadamarteri and Andy Webster from close range. The result leaves Motherwell two points behind leaders Rangers, while Dundee United slips into a fifth-placed tie with Aberdeen. Defense dominated the early part of the match as the closest thing to a goal came when confusion between United goalkeeper Nicky Weaver and Dillon almost led to an own goal, while Weaver was called upon to produce a good save on a Lukas Jutkiewicz volley. Neither sided looked like breaking the deadlock but Dillon's foul on O'Brien in the 66th minute allowed Forbes to beat Weaver from the spot, while Ruddy came up big with a trio of saves in rapid succession. However, the points were not secured until the final minutes when Ruddy needed to tip a 30-yard shot from Prince Buaben over the crossbar. Pedro Mendes was sent off late in the first half as Rangers was held to a 0-0 draw by Kilmarnock, Aberdeen slipped past St Mirren, 1-0 as Charlie Mulgrew scored the winner in the 88th minute, Hamilton and Falkirk played to a 0-0 draw at New Douglas Park and two goals from Anthony Stokes helped Hibernian easily handle St Johnstone, 3-0.
