East Rutherford, NJ (My Sportsbook) - The New York Red Bulls put a dent in the New England Revolution's playoff hopes by earning a 1-1 draw when the two Major League Soccer rivals squared off at Giants Stadium on Friday night. Sainey Nyassi gave the visitors the first goal just 13 minutes into the match when he drove into the offensive third after taking a pass from Steve Ralston before pulling a step-over move on the right side of the New York penalty area. The move gave the Gambian some space around defender Danleigh Borman, and he fired a rocket into the far post top corner, past a diving Bouna Coundoul for his second goal of the season. The Red Bulls, who were playing in front of almost 11,000 boisterous home fans on the Friday fixture, equalized with about 20 minutes to play in regulation when John Wolyneic scored his second goal of the season. The goal came on a counter attack started by second-half substitute Albert Celades. Celades found Macoumba Kandji with an outlet pass before the attacker found Dane Richards with a ball into space on the right side. Richards then ran onto the ball and played a ball across the penalty area, one-time, to Wolyneic, who beat charging goalkeeper Matt Reis to the ball and poked it home to tie the game at one. With the draw, New England (9-8-7) extends its unbeaten streak vs. the Red Bulls to 13 matches, setting a new MLS record for an undefeated streak against an opponent. The mark breaks San Jose's 12-game mark against New England from 2001-05. New York (4-17-5) will aim to continue its solid play down the stretch at Chivas USA next Saturday, while New England will be gunning for three points when it hosts Seattle the same day in its next MLS fixture.
