Cancun, Mexico (My Sportsbook) - South African Simphiwe Nongqayi beat Mexican Jorge Arce in a 12-round unanimous decision to capture the vacant IBF junior bantamweight title Tuesday night. In his first championship bout, Nongqayi (16-0) scored a sweep of sorts. He beat Arce's brother, Francisco, in a title eliminator fight in February. Tuesday's win were by scores of 117-112, 116-112, 117-111. Jorge Arce (52-6-1) is a former WBC/WBO champion. Humberto Soto made the third successful defense of his WBC super featherweight title with a second round technical knockout of Aristides Perez. Soto (49-7-2, 32 KOs) remained unbeaten in Mexico in 22 fights since 2000. Perez (15-1-1) was in his first title fight and his first bout outside Colombia.
