Auburn Hills, MI (My Sportsbook) - The defending WNBA champion Detroit Shock signed three players, including their top two scorers from this season, to contract extensions. The team inked Deanna Nolan and Katie Smith, both guard/forwards, and also signed forward/center Plenette Pierson. Nolan, a three-time WNBA champion with the Shock, started 33 games this season and averaged 16.9 points, 4.3 rebounds and 3.5 assists. Smith, who was the MVP of last year's WNBA Finals, started 27 games during this regular season and averaged 15.7 points, 3.1 rebounds and 2.8 assists. Pierson, the 2007 WNBA Sixth Woman of the Year, played in just one game this year due to shoulder surgery. The Shock open the playoffs by hosting Atlanta Wednesday in the best-of-three Eastern Conference semifinals.
