Sandy, Utah (My Sportsbook) - Josh Teater stumbled in the middle of his round Sunday, but took control with three birdies in a four-hole span en route to winning the Utah Championship.
Teater, who won for the first time on the Nationwide Tour, finished with a three-under 68 to end at 20-under-par 264. That was good for a four-stroke victory.
"I didn't feel any different," Teater said of his feelings of teeing off with his first 54-hole lead on the Nationwide Tour. "I've been on the same schedule teeing off late in the afternoon the last three days."
Tyler Aldridge rallied and grabbed a share of the lead twice in the final round, but was done in by back-to-back bogeys to finish his day. He closed with a five-under 66 to take second at minus-16.
Americans John Kimbell (72) and Steve Wheatcroft (69) shared third place at 15-under-par 269 with Australians Andrew Buckle (68) and Matt Jones (68).
Teater got off to a fast start with an eagle on the first from about 25 feet out, then pushed his lead to four strokes with a four-foot birdie putt on the third at Willow Creek Country Club.
He looked to be in control, but Teater stumbled to three bogeys over a four- hole span from the sixth to slide to minus-17. That dropped him into a share of the lead with Aldridge.
Teater responded with a birdie on the 10th. After Aldridge joined him at 18- under, Teater carded an unlikely birdie on 12. After his tee shot bounced off a tree and into the middle of the fairway, he knocked his second on the par- five into a greenside bunker.
The 30-year-old got up and down for birdie from there, then came right back with a birdie on 13 to push his lead to four as Aldridge stumbled into the clubhouse.
Teater parred three straight before chipping in for eagle on the par-five 17th. His winning margin dipped back to four as he faltered to a double-bogey on the par-three 18th.
"The weather played a little factor there on the front nine. The wind was blowing, which we hadn't seen," admitted Teater. "I might have gotten a little greedy with my tee shot at eight, then tried to give myself nine opportunities at birdie here on the back nine."
Aldridge posted six birdies over the first 13 holes to soar to 17-under. He posted his final birdie the 16th, before making bogey on the final two holes.
"Overall, I hit the ball well today," Aldridge stated. "Unfortunately the last few holes weren't what I wanted. It has been a work in progress. I've been struggling and I am happy to have a good week."
Garrett Willis (69) and Jhonattan Vegas (70) shared seventh place at 14- under-par 270. Kevin Chappell was one stroke back at minus-13 after closing with a two-under 69.
