Rogers, AR (My Sportsbook) - Jiyai Shin birdied the second playoff hole Sunday to defeat Angela Stanford and Sun Young Yoo and win the P&G Beauty NW Arkansas Championship.

The victory was Shin's third this season and her sixth on the LPGA Tour. She captured three victories in 2008 when she wasn't a tour member, so this is her rookie campaign.

Shin should be a shoo-in for Rookie of the Year honors, but now it might be time to consider Player of the Year. She is the only player besides Lorena Ochoa to have multiple wins in the 2009 season.

"I still can't believe it," said Shin, who pocketed $270,000. "My goal was just a top 10."

Shin needed a seven-under 64 in the final round to post nine-under 204. Yoo posted a three-under 68 to join Shin in the clubhouse, then Stanford eagled the 18th in regulation to shoot a 69 and it was off to the par-five 18th to begin the extra session.

Shin was the only player to miss the fairway at 18, but none of the three landed on the green in two. Shin pitched her third to six feet, then Stanford nearly holed her eagle chip, but settled for a tap-in birdie. Yoo landed in a back bunker and blasted out to four feet.

With Stanford in with birdie, Shin and Yoo had to convert to move on in the playoff. Both did just that and it was off to the par-three 15th to continue sudden death.

Yoo and Stanford both hit their tee balls on the front part of the green, but left themselves with long birdie tries. Shin knocked her's to 10 feet and the pressure was on Yoo and Stanford.

Neither was able to hole their long birdie efforts and Stanford left herself with a long par putt. It wouldn't matter. Shin ran home her birdie effort to get her third title of the year.

"Last week in Canada, in the final round I had a 63," said Shin. "I had confidence in my bag."

Second-round leader Song-Hee Kim struggled to a one-over 72 on Sunday and fell into a tie for fourth place with Shi Hyun Ahn, who managed a five-under 66 in the final round. The pair finished one stroke outside the playoff at eight- under 205.

Taylor Leon was sixth at minus-seven after a four-under 67 on Sunday.

Shin was in the third group out Sunday morning and got off to a great start with birdies at the first and third holes. She parred her last six on the front side, but caught fire early on the back nine.

She birdied the 10th and 11th holes and after a birdie at the par-five 14th, Shin was a factor on the leaderboard. She birdied the 16th hole and sank a five-footer for birdie at the last to get into the clubhouse at nine-under par.

Shin had to wait to see if anyone would catch her and her playoff mates didn't do so until the last.

Yoo got to nine-under after six birdies and two bogeys through her first 15 holes. She bogeyed the 16th for the third consecutive round and parred 17, meaning she needed a birdie at the last to match Shin.

Yoo reached the green in two at the last, but had close to 60 feet for eagle and the lead on her own. She lagged her putt to tap-in range, kicked it in and waited to see if Stanford or Kim would join her and Shin.

Kim couldn't manage to sneak in, but Stanford did it in dramatic style.

Stanford, who holed her third shot for eagle at the second, got to eight-under par with a birdie at 14, but immediately lost a stroke with a bogey at the par-three 15th.

At the last, Stanford hit a great second to 17 feet. She calmly rolled in the eagle putt, but eventually couldn't manage to make that last birdie that Shin did in the playoff.

Hye Jung Choi (70) and Na Yeon Choi (71) shared seventh at minus-six, which was one shot better than Becky Morgan, who carded a four-under 67 in Sunday's final round.

Last year's winner Seon Hwa Lee (67), Hee Young Park (69), Ai Miyazato (69) and Helen Alfredsson (71) shared 10th at four-under 209.
