New York Jets quarterback Chad Pennington,
Miami Dolphins defensive end Adewale Ogunleye and
Jacksonville Jaguars punter Chris Hanson were named the Offensive, Defensive and Special Teams Players of the Week, respectively, for the 11th week of the NFL season.
Pennington, who earned his first career Player of the Week honor, completed 21-of-26 passes for 257 yards and a career-best four touchdowns in the Jets' 31-14 victory over Detroit. In the game, he posted a 126.9 passer rating. The win was the team's third straight and fourth in the past five weeks.
Ogunleye recorded seven tackles and a career-best 2 1/2 sacks in the Dolphins' 26-7 win over Baltimore. He also forced a fumble as the win gave Miami a one game lead in the AFC East. He helped the Dolphins hold the Ravens to 157 yards of total offense. This is also his first career Player of the Week honor.
Hanson booted six punts and averaged 42.8 yards per kick as the Jaguars defeated Houston 24-21. Three of his kicks were downed inside the 20-yard line, including one inside the five. Only two of his six kicks were returned, for a total of one yard. He leads the AFC in gross punting (45.1) and is second in net average (37.1).
Other nominees for the offensive award were Tennessee wide receiver Kevin Dyson, Indianapolis wide receiver Marvin Harrison, Kansas City running back Priest Holmes, Indianapolis quarterback Peyton Manning, Tennessee quarterback Steve McNair, Denver running back Clinton Portis, Pittsburgh wide receiver Hines Ward and Miami running back Ricky Williams.
On the defensive side of the ball, New England linebacker Tedy Bruschi, Indianapolis defensive end Dwight Freeney, Denver defensive tackle Chester McGlockton and Kansas City cornerback Eric Warfield were considered for the award.
New England kick returner Kevin Faulk and Miami kicker Olindo Mare were also nominated for AFC Special Teams Player of the Week.
