Slaski, Poland (My Sportsbook) - Northern Ireland was denied a famous victory in Poland but took a deserved point from their trip as Nigel Worthington's side remain on course for a tilt at World Cup qualification with a 1-1 draw. Kyle Lafferty's first-half strike was fair reward for an enterprising performance and their battling second half display looked like putting them at the top of Group 3. But with just 10 minutes remaining Mariusz Lewandowski got on the end of a cross to break Irish hearts and put even more significance on Wednesday's match against Slovakia at Windsor Park. Meanwhile, Robbie Keane's late winner was enough to keep the Republic of Ireland in contention at the top of Group 8. Lowly Cyprus looked to have done enough to earn a draw after Marios Elia had cancelled out Kevin Doyle's fifth-minute opener. But captain Keane found a way through with just seven minutes remaining to keep the pressure on group leaders Italy. (Courtesy of sportbox.tv)
