Madrid, Spain (My Sportsbook) - Real Madrid striker Ruud van Nistelrooy is set to come out of international retirement in a bid to feature for the Netherlands at next summer's World Cup. The 33-year-old scored 33 goals in 64 appearances for the Oranje before bowing out after Euro 2008, but a lengthy injury absence has made Van Nistelrooy desperate to prove his worth all over again. He told Marca: "Before the injury I didn't feel well. I wasn't at my best. The doctor who operated on me told me I'd be able to play three more years and, when I retire, I won't have any more problems. "I want to be important at Real Madrid and I believe I can be. This is my objective. I could have gone to another club with less pressure, but I know I have the ability." (Courtesy of sportbox.tv)
