Flushing Meadows, NY (My Sportsbook) - Seventh-seeded Jo-Wilfried Tsonga was a straight-set winner over Jarkko Nieminen to reach the third round of the U.S. Open, the final Grand Slam event of the year. The Frenchman Tsonga, who has lost in the third round here each of the last two years, posted a 7-5, 6-3, 6-4 victory. Tsonga had just three break chances the entire match -- one in each set -- but converted all of them. He was not broken throughout and advanced to play either Julien Benneteau or 30th seed Viktor Troicki. The second round is scheduled to conclude here on Friday, with matches coming for second-seeded Andy Murray, third-seeded Rafael Nadal and sixth-seeded Juan Martin del Potro. Murray, last year's U.S. Open runner-up to Roger Federer, will meet Chilean Paul Capdeville, while the former top-ranked Nadal, who lost to Murray in last year's semifinals in Flushing, will battle tough German Nicolas Kiefer. Nadal is a six-time major champion, including this year's Aussie Open crown.
