Vick struggles in last preseason game as Jets top Eagles

East Rutherford, NJ (My Sportsbook) - Erik Ainge threw for two touchdowns and Danny Woodhead rushed for a pair of scores as the New York Jets topped Philadelphia, 38-27, in the final preseason contest for each club from the Meadowlands.

Michael Vick hit 7-of-11 passes for 26 yards with an interception, but ran for 35 yards and a score on seven carries for the Eagles. He was also sacked four times and lost a fumble.

It was the completion of a full day for Vick, who saw NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell announce earlier in the day, after a meeting at the Eagles' hotel, that he will be eligible to play in Week 3 when Philadelphia hosts Kansas City at Lincoln Financial Field.

This came after Goodell had previously stated Vick would be considered for full reinstatement and possibly play in regular-season games by Week 6 based on the progress he made in his transition plan.

Vick has not taken an NFL regular-season snap since December, 2006, spending 19 months in a federal prison after pleading guilty to federal charges stemming from a dogfighting operation conducted at a house he owned in Surry County, Virginia.

Ainge threw for 160 yards on 10-of-17 passes for the Jets (2-2), who begin their 2009 regular-season slate at Houston on September 13.

Jerricho Cotchery and David Clowney each had a TD reception while Woodhead recorded game-highs with 158 yards on 18 carries. Clowney led all receivers with 108 yards on just two catches.

Mark Sanchez started under center and completed all five of his pass attempts for 67 yards and a score.

Kevin Kolb threw for 110 yards and a touchdown on 8-of-16 passing for the Eagles (1-3), who sat starting quarterback Donovan McNabb in anticipation of their season opener at Carolina on September 13. LeSean McCoy added a touchdown on the ground while Tony Curtis had four catches for 40 yards and a TD.

Vick's two-yard TD scamper gave the Eagles a 14-7 edge early in the second quarter.

"I didn't even know what to do with myself," said Vick. "I got up and I just lost it, but it was great to get back in the end zone. It was great to have that play called."

But the Jets responded on a 55-yard run from Woodhead.

David Akers drilled a 48-yarder to put the Eagles on top, then Kolb hit Curtis for a 12-yard score.

Jay Feely drilled a 47-yard field goal and the Jets trailed by seven at the half.

The second half was all New York, as Ainge connected with Wallace Wright on a four-yard score, Woodhead ran in from the three then Clowney hauled in a 73- yard completion for a touchdown.

Philly's lone answer in the second half was Akers' 36-yard make which brought the visitors within 31-27.

Game Notes

Brandon Gibson led the Eagles with four receptions for 45 yards...Dustin Keller caught three balls for 44 yards for the Jets.
