Orchard Park, NY (My Sportsbook) - Detroit, without a win last season, won its third game of this preseason with Tristan Davis' 79-yard sprint cementing a 17-6 victory over Buffalo as each team prepares for its season opener. Detroit (3-1) got a nice look at first-overall pick Matthew Stafford, who finished 5-for-9 for 81 yards with an interception. Calvin Johnson caught two passes for 56 yards in the victory. Ryan Fitzpatrick, who started last season in Cincinnati, finished 9-for-17 for 78 yards for the Bills, who sat quarterback Trent Edwards, its top two rushers and wide receiver Terrell Owens. The Bills (1-4) begin the regular season at New England on September 14th. Detroit begins its campaign a day earlier at New Orleans. Jerome Felton's one-yard plunge got the Lions on the scoreboard then Rian Lindell booted through the first of his two field goals, a 24-yard chip shot for a 7-3 game. Lindell's field goal was a welcome sign for a Buffalo club that was shut out in its last preseason game versus Pittsburgh. Billy Cundiff's 32-yard field goal made it 10-3 in the fourth, but Lindell answered with a 48-yard kick and a 10-6 game. Davis' long jaunt capped the scoring. Game Notes Davis finished with 92 yards rushing, as Detroit outgained Buffalo on the ground, 249-87...The Lions had 422 total yards to 321 for the Bills...The Bills were penalized eight times for 51 yards.
