Minneapolis, MN (My Sportsbook) -
Minnesota Timberwolves head coach Kurt Rambis announced his coaching staff on Thursday, among them some notable former NBA stars.
Joining Rambis on the bench will be Dave Wohl, Reggie Theus, Bill Laimbeer and J.B. Bickerstaff.
Wohl, who had been the assistant GM for the Boston Celtics for the past two seasons, also spent time as an assistant coach with Boston, Orlando, Miami, Sacramento and both Los Angeles teams. Wohl's only head coaching experience came with the New Jersey Nets from 1985-88.
Theus had previously been the head coach with Sacramento for 106 games from the start of the 2007-08 season until this past December, racking up a 44-62 record. Prior to that, he logged two seasons as head coach with New Mexico State.
The 51-year-old spent 13 seasons as a player in the NBA with five teams, and is perhaps best known during his stints with the Bulls (1978-84) and Kings (1984-88).
Laimbeer joins the T-Wolves after a successful seven-year run as head coach and general manager for the WNBA's Detroit Shock, during which he guided the club to three league titles.
A three-time All-Star center in his playing days, the 52-year-old will forever be remembered as one of the Detroit Pistons' "Bad Boys" who challenged the Lakers and Celtics for supremacy in the late 1980's and early 90's while helping the team to back-to-back crowns in 1989-90.
Bickerstaff returns for his third season as an assistant with Minnesota. He spent the previous three campaigns as an assistant to his father, Bernie, with the Charlotte Bobcats.
