Iowa City, IA (My Sportsbook) - Iowa running back Jewel Hampton will miss the entire 2009 season due to a knee injury, Hawkeyes head coach Kirk Ferentz announced Wednesday. Hampton, who rushed for 463 yards and seven touchdowns on 91 carries as a true freshman last year, will redshirt after suffering a setback to an injury suffered in offseason workouts. Iowa's starting running back spot is now up for grabs between junior Paki O'Meara, redshirt freshmen Jeff Brinson and Adam Robinson and freshman Brandon Wegher. "I don't know if it's going to be a two-man, three-man, four-man [committee], but we'll do whatever it takes to be effective out there," Ferentz said. "I am comfortable. I think the guys have practiced well and I'm optimistic they'll do some good things as we move forward."
