Miami, FL (My Sportsbook) - Miami Dolphins running back Ricky Williams reportedly received a contract extension through the 2010 season, after which he plans on retiring. The 32-year-old Williams told the Miami Herald of his extension and intentions to call it quits after the 2010 campaign. The newspaper reports the contract includes a pay raise of nearly $1 million. Williams is slated to earn $3.4 million this year and will have a base salary of $4.35 million Last season, Williams rushed 160 times for 659 yards with four touchdowns in all 16 games. Williams has been in the news throughout his career. He sat out the 2004 campaign after announcing his retirement in July but came back after the Dolphins demanded he return bonus money for breach of contract. The 1998 Heisman Trophy winner and 2002 NFL rushing champion was suspended 1 1/2 years by the NFL for violating the league's substance abuse policy. Unable to play in the NFL in 2006, Williams inked a one-year deal with the Toronto Argonauts of the Canadian Football League. He then rejoined the Dolphins in 2007.
