Glasgow, Scotland (My Sportsbook) - Celtic boss Tony Mowbray has denied suggestions that Aiden McGeady tried to con the referee with a dive during their 1-0 victory over Hibernian at Easter Road. With simulation very much in the media spotlight, the Republic of Ireland international was shown a second yellow card for going to ground following a challenge from Hibs defender Paul Hanlon. The incident occurred just days after Arsenal striker Eduardo was involved in a diving controversy after winning a penalty in their Champions League victory over Celtic. But despite seeing his winger sent off for a second bookable offense, Mowbray issued a staunch defense of McGeady. "If the Eduardo situation had not been blown up so big nationally, 99 times out of 100, maybe even 100 out of 100, it would never have been a yellow card," he said. "I think the referee has been influenced by the diving situation. "It was unfortunate for Aiden. It was a poor decision and we are in all in disbelief." (Courtesy of sportbox.tv)
